Channel Section

A wide range of support SF Channel sections are part of our overall SF Channel System, all independently tested for loading capabilities.

All channel profiles are 41mm wide and manufactured from either 1.5mm or 2.5mm steel for different load bearing capabilities.
SF channels are manufactured by cold rolling to BS 6946:1988 and marked at regular intervals along each length with the STRUTFAST name and BS number (why are they marked?)
Available in different lengths or cut to size.
Available in two finishes: Pre-galvanised (standard finish for channels) and Hot Dip Galvanised. Other types of channel finishes are available: stainless steel, powder coated and GRP.
Our support channel sections can be used in conjunction with a full range of complementary brackets to create a versatile and economical support system.

What Channel finish should I use?

Pre-Galvanised Finish: SF Pre-Galvanised Channel is manufactured from continiously hot-dip zinc coated steel strip conforming to BS EN 10346:2009.

Hot Dip Galvanised: SF HDG channel is manufactured from uncoated hot-rolled steel strip and hot-dip galvanised after manufacture to BS EN 10025:2019. This achieves a thicker zinc coating than with pre-galvanising and means all the edges of the channel and slots are zinc coated. This finish gives increased corrosion protection for use in external applications and more demanding environments.

You may have heard about tested channel systems, but how does it differ from putting channel sections together? This article may help you to differentiate between each.
